2. What this site does not do

applieddog.com is a handful of static HTML files. It sets no cookies and uses no local or session storage. It loads no fonts, scripts, stylesheets, icons, maps or videos from anyone else: every single file your browser requests while viewing these pages comes from applieddog.com. There is no analytics, no tracking pixel, no A/B testing, no advertising, no social plugin and no embedded player. No profiling or automated decision-making takes place.

Consequently there is nothing for you to consent to, and no cookie banner to dismiss.

3. Server log files

When your browser requests a page, our web server writes one line to an access log: date and time, the file requested, the HTTP status code, the number of bytes sent, the referring URL if your browser sends one, and your browser's user-agent string.

Your IP address is shortened before it is written — the last octet of an IPv4 address and the last 80 bits of an IPv6 address are replaced with zeros. We do not store complete IP addresses in the access log, and we do not combine log data with any other source. If a request fails, the server's error log may briefly record a complete IP address; it is deleted on the same schedule.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is operating the site reliably and diagnosing faults and abuse. Logs are rotated and deleted after 14 days.

4. Hosting

The site runs on a server operated by Flying Cat GmbH at Hetzner Online GmbH, Nuremberg, Germany. No content delivery network, edge cache or third-party proxy sits in front of it.

5. Transport encryption

The site is served over HTTPS. Requests to the unencrypted HTTP port are redirected. The TLS certificate is issued by Let's Encrypt, a certificate authority; obtaining and renewing it involves no data about visitors.

6. Contacting us by email

If you write to hello@applieddog.com we process your address, your message and anything else you choose to include, for the purpose of answering you. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where your message concerns a contract or its preparation, otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f). Mail is received on servers operated by or for Flying Cat GmbH. We keep correspondence for as long as it is needed to deal with the matter, and longer only where commercial or tax law requires it (§ 257 HGB, § 147 AO).

7. Links to YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook

Those are plain hyperlinks, not embeds. Nothing is loaded from those services while you are on this site and they learn nothing about you unless you click. This site also sends no referrer (Referrer-Policy: no-referrer), so they are not told which page you arrived from.

Once you follow a link you are on that platform, and its own privacy policy applies — including transfers to the United States and other countries outside the EU. We have no control over and no insight into what they do with your data there.

8. Your rights

You have the right to obtain information about the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR), to have it corrected (Art. 16), erased (Art. 17) or its processing restricted (Art. 18), to receive it in a portable form (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority. The one responsible for us is:

9. Changes

If this site changes in a way that affects data processing, this page is updated and the version date at the top changes with it. There is no earlier version.
